Friendly experienced vet visiting you at home
Pets are part of the family and they deserve the very best care! Visiting them at home in their normal environment where they can relax is just the beginning. From vaccinations & routine conditions to complex medical case management & surgery, I provide a friendly, experienced & comprehensive veterinary service to ensure that your best friends are looked after from puppy and kittenhood right through all their life stages and for everything that comes along.
Veterinary Care at Home
Working as a mobile vet in my local area, I get to see all my favourite patients relaxed in their home environment. I regularly perform vaccinations and health check ups: including ear & eye concerns, dental health, lumps and bumps and skin problems. I treat patients with ongoing complex medical conditions such as cardiac disease, diabetes, thyroid and other hormonal conditions, neurological or gastrointestinal problems. As an experienced veterinarian with over 17 years clinical & surgical experience, I take great pride in providing an exceptional level of care to your pet and providing what every loved member of the family deserves: their personal physician.

Hospital Care at the VDSC
Sometimes your pet may require more advanced treatment than can be provided at home, and when this is required I perform them at our surgery: the Veterinary Diagnostics & Surgery Centre on Governor Rd, in Braeside. The VDSC is a state of the art facility where I regularly conduct surgery, dentistry, diagnostic imaging and other laboratory testing. At the VDSC, we also perform advanced surgical procedures such as fracture repairs, knee reconstruction (TPLO & Extra Capsular), Patella surgery (MPL for patella dislocation), hip surgery (FHNE & Toggle) and complex tumour removal. About Dr Gemma Coulter BVSc (Melb.) MANZCVS (Small Animal Medicine)
Growing up in the local area, Gemma first started working in a vet clinic as a kennel hand when she was a young girl; cleaning kennels and walking the dogs. Over 25 years later, and the joy of working with animals has not lost its magic. Following graduation as a veterinary surgeon from the University of Melbourne in 2007, Gemma has worked in general practice continuously ever since.
In Gemma’s previous role as the owner of a busy veterinary hospital, she supervised the medical & surgical cases of 6 veterinarians along with her own patients, and has undertaken significant post graduate study over several years. This culminated in being admitted by examination as a member of the Australian & New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists (ANZCVS) in the field of Canine & Feline Internal medicine.
Providing a local house call service and working as a vet at the VDSC, Gemma is able to provide your family pets with comprehensive care, from routine vaccinations to advanced surgery. Gemma offers a tailored approach to your pet’s medical care as their friendly and experienced personal physician.
When not busy with her patients, Gemma also serves as a senior examiner for the ANZCVS for veterinary surgeons seeking to attain their post graduate qualifications in internal medicine.
Testimonials from pet owners
Dr Gemma went above and beyond for my dog Essie, and the care that she received was outstanding. She recovered very well and I credit that to the skills of Dr. Gemma. Thanks so much!

Gemma is a lovely, caring vet who really knows her stuff. I can’t recommend her enough! Billy loves her visits, even though it is for a regular arthritis injection!

I cannot speak more highly of Gemma’s care and compassion when we had to say goodbye to our beloved labrador. It was so gentle and peaceful, and Gemma made it so much easier on the whole family. We will always remember her kindness.
With so much appreciation, Jenny

We love having Gemma look after our two nutty cats! The visits are usually hilarious, and Gemma is so knowledgeable about any health concern! We feel lucky to have her, and really appreciate that she comes to us. Taking them to the vets was such a nightmare! Cheers from Sonia, Greg and of course Binks and Duffy!
